Fantastically fabulously fun!
Holly Denham has just started a new job as a receptionist at a fancy hoyty toyty corporate bank. She is hired under the guise that she has previous receptionist skills, however, Holly may have stretched that truth just a wee little bit.
After a slightly rocky start, Holly settles into her new position, becoming great friends with fellow receptionist, Trish (Patricia), while maintaining her loyal and never boring friendship with wild sex crazed Aisha and very outwardly gay friend Jason. The tales these friends speak of through emails is enough to make the most worldly person blush. Though at the same time, many chuckles and laughter will erupt as heads will shake at the crazy comments made.
Other email cohorts include Mum and Dad, Holly's brother, Charlie, Holly's sister and brother-in-law, the snake breeders Alice and Matt, old school chum, Jennie (who is actually quite the backstabbing b****)as well as all the usual such emails from weight loss sites, porn sites, you know the drill.... Between having to deliver frozen rats to her sister and brother-in-law and hearing about her Grandmother dancing nude in the rain at the nursing home, Holly's life is anything but dull.
Some may think that an entire book written in email format would be a bit clunky and choppy. However, that is not the case, in the least, with Holly's Inbox. Instead, I was quite blown away at the talent of the author to, create an easy to follow and engrossing story entirely of emails - no in-between narrations, scene settings, nada, just emails. The reader is able to easily get to know each character, their personality, lifestyle, everything, just from these emails. Holly experiences love, heartbreak, indecision, near job loss and so much more within these 665 pages (Okay, lift that chin up off the ground and close your mouth. I did indeed say 665 pages, however, this is a lengthy tome of addictive and unadulterated bliss. Not only that, but since it is entirely email format, it is a very quick read and probably equivalent to a 350 regularly formatted page book - just a guess)
In all honesty, I truly loved Holly's Inbox. It is written in a very unique style and the story is sure to lighten even the darkest of moods. This is a book, that as soon as my happy hands received it from it's envelope, I delved in and did not stop until I was at the end. Happy hands, happy eyes, happy heart equals a very happy girl! Holly's Inbox is tons of fun, yet realistic in the aspect of the many troubles, ups and downs and traumas of day to day living - as well as the great times and happiness. I was beyond thrilled and excellently satisfied with the ending and can't wait to read more by this author. (psst...speaking of author, Holly is really a MAN! Yes, folks, Holly's Inbox was conceived by an excellent author who just happens to be of the male persuasion. I have to add that this guy really knows his women's stuff!)
I do want to mention that there are a few explicit conversations that may offend the easily offended. By this, I mean there is sex talk, swearing, and some "yucky" things. I, who am not easily offended, had a couple of "yikes" moments, however that did not deter me from loving the story. If I had to give it a rating, I would probably shoot for PG-13 (though a bit tilting toward R in a couple of spots) In any case, Holly's Inbox is a cheerfully good time, that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun, fast and incredible read!
Now, just think if someone got a hold of your inbox....

Subject: Nightclub
From: Holly
To: Charlie Denham
Hey, I got a missed call from you earlier. Can't talk on the switch. Is everything OK with the big night club boss?
From: Charlie Denham
To: Holly
Hi,
Got in trouble today with the health inspectors. Damn it.
From: Holly
To: Charlie Denham
Why?
From: Charlie Denham
To: Holly
Oh, some bollocks about having people in a confined space and them needing to breathe.
From: Holly
To: Charlie Denham
Please don't swear on emails.
I thought they were just upset with you about the noise?
From: Charlie Denham
To: Holly
They were. They said it was too loud outside, so we blocked up some holes I found. Turns out the holes were ventilation holes. It's hard trying to please everyone. Also, they weren't happy about the heating.
From: Holly
To: Charles Denham
Too hot/cold?
From: Charles Denham
To: Holly
Neither, it's got a tendency to make your eyes water. The council says it's something to do with leaking carbon monoxide or dioxide or something. It's just money money money.
From: Holly
To: Charles Denham
Those inspectors are so cheeky, aren't they, wanting you to have alive, healthy clubber.
Aweful.

A bit about Holly's Inbox:
System alert: Inbox full of scandal, romance, and office hilarity!
Meet Holly Denham. It's her first day as a receptionist at a London investment bank and inexperienced Holly is struggling. How's a working girl supposed to have a love life with a demanding job, crazy friends, a dysfunctional family, and gossipy colleagues? Not to mention that Holly's been keeping a secret from everyone - and the past is about to catch up with her.
An affair with a sexy VP heats things up at the office, but when Holly's first flame (who, she thinks, left her in the lurch) gets a job at the same company, complications abound and Holly's inbox becomes a daily source of drama, laughter and scandal.

Repeatedly compared to Bridget Jones' Diary, www.hollysinbox.com became a website phenomenon, with thousands of daily visitors from all over the world. This novel tells Holly's story in full, and also includes exclusive extra material not available on the site.

Diary of an Eccentric
Thanks so much April for my review! I think you're right about the actual size - probably being close to 350 of a normal book layout etc.
So glad you liked it, I got a great buz off reading your review - I'll of course be back to your site again!
