Giveaway - Obama's Blackberry by Kasper Hauser

This sounds like such a fun book and I am so pleased with the opportunity to be able to giveaway 5 copies to 5 lucky winners! (Thank you Hachette Book Group!) Here is a bit about Obama's Blackberry:

When Obama stated that if elected, he would keep his Blackberry, debate echoed through Washington and among the ranks of the Secret Service. What would it be like to have a president who could Twitter, send text messages, and navigate the web with ease? What would it be like to receive a text message from inside the Oval Office and, most importantly, what would it say?

Now, for the first time, We The People are privy to our new leader's epistolary back-and-forths on his wily hand-held device. We're about to discover that his emails (and the replies, from his wife and daughters, Biden, Palen, Rush, Hannity, the new first puppy, and even Bush) are so tuned in to the language of electronic correspondence they come hilariously close to the brink of legibility.

This giftable, imagined glimpse into Obama's beloved Blackberry traverses the mundane and momentous contours of the Commander in Chief's life, from security briefings to spam, basketball practice to domestic bliss, and the panic of oops-I-hit-reply-all, to, of course, the trauma of dealing with the First Mother In Law.

To wit:

BidenMyTime: Hey U, whatcha doin?
BARACKO: M rly busy
BidenMyTime: Right :( Can I lv at 4:45?

No need to enter me, dear (even though I want an iPhone and the Tour Manager keeps saying no. I think he's afraid I'll lose myself to the bubble game!). I'm dropping in to say thanks for the e-mail. I've got this posted at Win a Book.

Ok, please enter me! I have a nice basic phone. I wouldn't mind something with a full keyboard, but my needs are pretty simple these days!

I'm not clear on this book though: is it actual texts from the President or is it a satirical/humorous look at his texting?

I would love to move forward in technology and have this. Thanks for the opportunity.

I'm a little afraid of blackberries because of the modified keyboard and the presumptive character display - how does it know what I'm going to say? I don't know what I'm going to say! LOL

I considered getting an iPhone, but $100 a month for a cellphone seemed obscene so I got an iPod Touch and it is perfect! I connected it to my wireless home network and can do everything I want to with it.

Honestly, I don't even have a cell phone!

When I go out I like to be left be; I guess I'm a tad old fashioned!

Thanks, I'd love to read this book!

This book looks like fun! I don't have an iPhone or Blackberry. What I have is sort of a basic cell phone and I only use it for talking. Sad, right?

this looks like a good one.

I'd definitely like to get my hands on an iPhone, not as much for the phone per-se but because the app store has far more selection than any of the competitors.

thanks,

this sounds fascinating and so timely. I only have an iPod touch, but already I am addicted to the ability to be connected anywhere I go.

My husband and our two sons are into technology~ computers, cell phones, etc. I only use my phone for talking when necessary. Like most of technology, cell phones have their good and bad points. I don't like when someone is talking with me or in line talking on their phone. This book sounds like fun, though. Please enter my name in your drawing.
Many thanks, Cindi

Sounds great.

I'm not a big fan of i phones too complicated for me. I like my basic flip pre paid cell.

I like my basic Nextel flip phone. The Iphone just have to much going on. I wonder when phones will no longer make calls and that will cost you extra

I've never owned a blackberry, iphone, or that type of phone that can access email, internet, etc. I don't work a job where I really need one so I'm happy with my 5 yr old laptop at home!

Please count me in! It looks like a fun read!

I used to have a very nice blackberry when I was working in a big NY law firm. I enjoyed getting the occasional email from friends and loved ones, but for the most part just hearing the ping would get my heart racing!

The convenience is wonderful - better than always checking email without knowing if anything has come in. But the expectations that come with it can be exhausting!!

I am stoked about this book! Anything like Sky Maul I will be rolling on the floor in a fit of laughter!

I have had the Model-T Iphone pretty much since it came out and I STILL LOVE IT! Its for everyone, anywhere (except the AT&T service areas that are blipped off the map like Lake Tahoe)... saved me time and time again from getting lost of needing to find that last minute thing to do!

1st entry: I love the concept behind this book. What an imagination the author must have. I'd love to win it. Sounds like fun reading.

NMLady said...

2nd entry: Since I am technologically challenged, I don't plan on getting an iphone or a blackberry even though I know they have many practical uses. I don't text and I don't even use the camera capacity of my cell phone. Maybe someday this senior citizen will want to learn those, but so far not.

This book looks great! I have an iPod Touch; someday when I have an income I'll splurge for an iPhone and the corresponding wireless contract.

There. That'll fool the spambotz.

As for smart phones, I'm very curious about the upcoming Blackberry Curve I've read about as well as the new iPhone supposedly coming out soon (all this per Gizmodo). I'm still using a pretty old Palm phone so anything newer would be a step up.

I am waiting for the launch of an Iphone with a keypad!!! Just can't type fast enough on an Iphone and I do that a lot! I would love a copy of the book because I never win anything and what I have seen so far really made me laugh. Good medicine. Won't bore you with the details. Thanks for this!
