The Plum series is one of my absolute favorite series. I think I got in on it around when #8 came out and let me say that it did not take me long to catch up and then have to sit drumming my figures and waiting impatiently for the next installment. The "between-the-numbers" books are a wonderfully fun added bonus while waiting for the next number in the series. And of course, we get to ride along with Diesel in the "between-the-numbers" books which is a yummy trip.
Plum Spooky is a bit on the edgier side, I think, though still complete with all the laughter, hi jinx and hilarity of previous books in the series. I found myself laughing out loud several times throughout the story and quickly engrossed within Stephanie's adventure. Narrator Lorelei does a fantastic job bringing Stephanie, as well as all of the characters to life. She is a true voice talent and is a perfect match to the wonderful talent of Janet Evanovich.
This is the third book in the Plum series that I have listened to, rather than read, simply because I couldn't wait to find out what happens in the story. Between a Mario, junk food eating monkey and an evil plot to take over the world by controlling the weather, Plum Spooky never has a dull moment. This is an excellent addition to Janet Evanovich's Plum series and I eagerly await the delight that is sure to come in number fifteen!

Product Description:
The First Full Length Stephanie Plum Between-the-Numbers Novel from #1 Bestselling Author Janet Evanovich.Turn on all the lights and check under your bed. Things are about to get spooky in Trenton, New Jersey. According to legend, the Jersey Devil prowls the Pine Barrens and soars above the treetops in the dark of night. As eerie as this might seem, there are things in the Barrens that are even more frightening and dangerous. And there are monkeys. Lots of monkeys. Wulf Grimoire is a world wanderer and an opportunist who can kill without remorse and disappear like smoke. He’s chosen Martin Munch, boy genius, as his new business partner, and he’s chosen the Barrens as his new playground. Munch received his doctorate degree in quantum physics when he was twenty-two. He’s now twenty-four, and while his brain is large, his body hasn’t made it out of the boys’ department at Macy’s. Anyone who says good things come in small packages hasn’t met Munch. Wulf Grimoire is looking for world domination. Martin Munch would be happy if he could just get a woman naked and tied to a tree. Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum has Munch on her most-wanted list for failure to appear in court. Plum is the all-American girl stuck in an uncomfortable job, succeeding on luck and tenacity. Usually she gets her man. This time she gets a monkey. She also gets a big guy named Diesel. Diesel pops in and out of Plum’s life like birthday cake – delicious to look at and taste, not especially healthy as a steady diet, gone by the end of the week if not sooner. He’s an über bounty hunter with special skills when it comes to tracking men and pleasing women. He’s after Grimoire, and now he’s also after Munch. And if truth were told, he wouldn’t mind setting Stephanie Plum in his crosshairs. Diesel and Plum hunt down Munch and Grimoire, following them into the Barrens, surviving cranberry bogs, the Jersey Devil, a hair-raising experience, sand in their underwear, and, of course . . . monkeys.

I am glad you enjoyed this one, April. I will probably catch it when it's out in paperback or at discount through my book club. I haven't been overly impressed with the between the number books and so am hesitant to buy them in hardback anymore.
Mercy! I wish I could catch up with you. :)
I'm kind of with Literary Feline. I love the regular books & have them in hardback, but tend to skip the between-the-numbers books b/c I've been disappointed in some in the past.
Wendy and Texas Red, I know what you are saying about the Between-the-Numbers books. This one is more of a full length novel and the story is more development, I think. That makes a difference. Also Ranger, Morrelli and all the characters are in this one. It seems that they don't make much of an appearance in the other BTN books. If you guys choose to read this one, I will be anxious to hear your thoughts!
J.Kaye - LOL!! Come on, Lady, get to reading! ;)
Glad you enjoyed it April. I have the book on hold at the library but maybe I should look into the audio instead. I've always loved to listen to these on audio.
